PRTC Merger Update

I’m am pleased to let you know that at separate meetings last week, both the Crossroads Care and The Princess Royal Trust for Carers boards voted in favour of continuing to work together in order to progress with the merger.

The boards will continue to finalise and review the proposals, but it is intended that the plan to form a new national charity will now go ahead, subject to formal approval from The Trust’s members at an EGM on December 151, and the fulfilment of other conditions, including the consent of the Office of Scottish Charities Regulator which will be required before the merger can take place.

This presents a great opportunity for both charities to come together to create a united and stronger network and voice – a voice that will enable us to raise more awareness of carers’ issues and more resources to develop and deliver high quality services and support to meet their needs.

We are working towards a target date for the transfer of both organisations to New Charity on 31 March 2012, with New Charity operational from 1 April 2012.

Planning for the new charity is now well underway, and we have already shared details of the strategic plan and network offer at recent focus groups and conferences. We will be carrying out further meetings in the new year, to give both networks the chance to comment on and influence plans for the New Charity.
