Young carers wanted for national educational survey

Are you a young adult carer (16-25) who would be willing to take part in a short interview?

As part of the ‘Who Cares?’ project NIACE would like to conduct informal interviews with young adult carers (16-25) – we want to find out about their experiences of learning and how these experiences could be improved.  We can offer each young adult a £15 gift voucher to thank them for sharing their experiences with us…

Previous research undertaken by NIACE has shown that young adult carers experience significant disadvantage and that they are often unable to engage in learning and achieve their potential.

NIACE believes that all young adults are entitled to participate in learning, gain a voice and access services that meet their needs and enable them to aspire and achieve.  On this basis, NIACE has gained funding for a project entitled ‘Who Cares? Promoting Family Focussed Learning Opportunities for Young Adult Carers’.  We are keen to hear about the needs and experiences of young adult carers, and to develop materials to support them to effectively engage in learning.

If you are able to offer any expertise around support for young adult carers, or if you are in contact with any young adult carers who you think might be willing to take part in an informal interview, please contact me on 0116 2047059, or e-mail [email protected]
